I had never used a blade like this before ordering and was sick of paying obscene amounts of money for replacement blades for my supposedly best 5 bladed monsters. It's better in every way when you get the hang of it. Pros: 1. It's MUCH cheaper. For the cost of a set of cartridges from my famous brand of razor, I can get blades for this razor for several years. Remember to buy razors in the store, that's a thing of the past.2. It's faster and easier to clean. Because it has a double edge, you can double shave the area before cleaning the blades. Also saves water! Cleaning is very easy and prevents the holding mechanism from sticking. Open it, rinse all the hair, dry with a few jets of air and put in a dry place. It should take forever when you do this.3. Better for on the go. Small enough to fit my entire shaving kit in the smallest pocket of my backpack. Closer shave This blade gives me a closer shave with fewer cuts than my old razor. Because the blades are so cheap, I don't feel compelled to use them past the point where they should be replaced. Cons: 1. You will likely cut yourself on first use. I cut myself a few times just starting out. There's nothing a little TP can't fix. After using it a few times and perfecting my technique, it doesn't happen anymore. I haven't cut myself in months. Just be careful around the chin and jawline.2. As some others have mentioned, and being so close, you should definitely use an aftershave. I have not used aftershave on my previous razors but your skin will sting if you don't when using this one. In addition, the shave lasts a day longer. YMMV with this.3. You need to use an upstroke or 2 around the nose. Its shape makes it difficult to shave the area just under the nose with downward strokes. I avoid upward movements because of the risk of ingrown hairs, but that's not a problem with this razor.
