I am allergic to sawdust. Back when I was tougher (i.e. dumber), I would spend the day sawing wood on a table saw, with no face mask and no vacuum at the dust hole. I then spent the next day treating my headache, cursing myself and promising to put on that stupid mask next time. I got pretty busy wearing a mask and hooking up the vacuum to the saw's dust collector. The only problem is that the sawdust clogs the vacuum filter. I blew it out with compressed air too many times and it wasn't easy to clean. At $15 each, I can't afford to change it every weekend either. In short, this dust collector works. most of time. It catches almost all of the sawdust my table saw produces and keeps it in an easy-to-empty 5-gallon bucket. Easy to put on and take off and seals well. I wish the hose was a bit longer and it had an extra 90 degree fitting to make the house wiring a little cleaner, but those are minor flaws. What worries me more is that it brings very fine dust into the shop vacuum. I suspect that this dust is too light to settle in the airflow. As a result, the factory vacuum filter is still clogged. It takes longer, but this fine dust is very difficult to remove there after packaging. It's still a win - I still spend less time cleaning the filters - but the filter still clogs faster than I'd like. Thought. The suction power is also a bit lower compared to not having a cyclone, which I think is unavoidable. I can certainly live with that for most of what I do, and if I need that last bit of power I can bypass the cyclone by swapping two hoses. Overall I think this is a good addition to my table saw. It picks up a lot of sawdust with very little power. I wish the particulate matter was a little better settled (from what I've seen some other designs filter particulate matter more effectively) but for the price this thing is a winner.
