December 2015 My fiancee bought me a 2016 Elantra GT, it was my first brand new car. A little less than two weeks later, driving home from work after midnight, I didn't even see a deer because it was out of sight. across the city street. It hit the front driver's door right in the middle where my shoulder and left arm were. It then rolled down the side of the car, further damaging the driver's rear door and tearing the rear hub cap into several pieces. Blood and fur were left on the side of the car. Luckily I was fine and the deer was not. The damage was over $3,000. I was sick and afraid of being blinded by another deer. After the car drove to the shop, I immediately went in search of deer whistles that might prevent it from happening again. I found and ordered this 'Save the Deer' whistle for every car we had at the time. It was installed on my car as soon as the whistle blew and as soon as my car came back from the body shop. He's been there ever since. So far I haven't had any encounters with deer. I work 45 minutes from home in the evenings and always drive at night. I see tons of deer year round where I live. The deer can definitely hear my approach. They always either lift their head and turn it in the direction I'm approaching from and stop, or they complete the turn and move away, and sometimes they even run off the road in the opposite direction. Before whistles were installed, deer never seemed to pay. noticed my car, or more often they tried to jump into the street in front of me. It doesn't happen anymore, that's why I believe in whistles. This last whistle I bought is for the new truck my fiance bought for himself. He hit a deer twice with his old truck before installing any whistles. After installing a Save-A-Deer whistle on an old truck, he stopped having deer collisions. This made him believe in whistles and he actually asked me if I would order him that last whistle as a birthday present. He installed it on his new truck as soon as it was delivered. These are the six pieces I've bought so far. For every new car we buy, a new whistle is one of the first purchases I make for them. I even put one on my son's car. They stay in place after tightening, they don't fall off. We wash our cars by hand, and I often run mine through automated no-contact car washes until the whistle blows, too. I had no problem with them getting clogged with dirt or bugs so that wasn't a problem for me. I love the thin profile of these whistles, they fit easily into the front grill so they don't ruin the look of the car. You seriously can't see them unless you look closely.
