The hat served its purpose but not quite what I expected. We bought size 3-4 for our 4 year old as he has a smaller head and I didn't want him to be too loose. The hat fit well on the head, we could tighten it with an elastic band. However, the hat is not very deep. Only about 2 3/4 inches deep. The brims were only about 2 1/4 inches wide, not wide enough to cover most of his neck (he was bent over in the picture). After all, we have the same larger size. Hat for older daughter and it has some nice buttons at the end of each chin strap so you can adjust the length (you can see this on many product photos).
