Review on AcuRite 00515M Digital Wireless Fridge and Freezer Thermometer with Alarm and Max/Min Temperature - Ideal for Home and Restaurants by Jasin Gilstrap

We finally got the chest freezer and the butcher ordered a whole pig so we wanted to make sure it was safe. The thermometer arrived today. First impressions: 1. The packaging was good. Little waste and mostly recyclable corrugated cardboard. Everything was included (except batteries) and in excellent condition.2. Batteries are installed (you will need (7) AA - three for the display and two for each sensor). New alkalines installed and immediately the display started showing room temperature. A few reviewers have reported their DOA aggregates, but we haven't had any issues.3. Setting the alarm temperature and turning the alarm on and off was easy and clear with instructions. No problem! 4. Place one sensor in the freezer compartment and one in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator. The reaction was slow. It took an hour to stabilize. I like that because there is no alarm if we open the door for a few minutes. After the display stabilized, I took out a sensor and placed it on the table top. It took about 5 minutes for the reading to exceed the alarm setting and then another 5 minutes before the alarm sounded. Definitely loud enough that I could hear it everywhere in our little house. Pressing the alarm button on the display will turn off the alarm for 5 minutes or until the sensor reading falls below the set value.6. Accuracy. I don't have a known accurate thermometer, so this is kind of a guess in the freezer. Medium hardness ice (not hard like a rock), so the reading is 0 degrees. seems correct. The fridge freezer has a built-in digital display. This thermometer shows about 3 degrees. colder than the refrigerator display. Can't say which is more accurate but they are close enough for our needs.7. We used magnets to attach the display to the side of the fridge. The surface is textured so it slipped a bit when the fridge compressor was turned on. This problem was solved by placing one of our many fridge magnets directly underneath. In general very satisfied. I will update this if there are any issues.
