This product only works when your car battery is charged, whether the car is running or not. I tried it with my Goal Zero 500x to charge it on my old 2010 Subaru Outback. The red LED lights up, but when I insert it into the front or rear port of the 8mm barrel, the blue LED doesn't light up at 500x and it won't charge. However, when I connect it to a newer machine, the LED lights up. This charger is GREEN and I can charge 5 or 10 amps. Currently, 120 W is charged via this charger. I gave a bad review earlier. Therefore, before leaving, make sure that the battery in your car is charged. If it's broken, it can still start your car, but its voltage isn't enough to run this thing.
