I was excited to try the very popular salt blend with my mixed reef. I used regular Red Sea salt which I bought pre-mixed at my local fish store until I bought my own rodi. The salt arrived quickly and intact. It contained one large bag of salt instead of several smaller bags, which I believe are intended to help counteract settling and product inhomogeneity. Fritz claims they grind the particles to a uniform size so this isn't necessary, but I took the bag out of the box and rolled it around just in case. Solution 35ppt. I also heated the water to 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit before slowly adding the salt as instructed. After about 20 minutes the water with the print head was completely clear! Now we come to my tests. I measured specific gravity and it was accurate (after some confusion with a refractometer that needed calibration! Be sure to do this often as mine was far away and I had to dilute and tick off). that the parameters were low as I assume a one star reviewer). It's mixed clean, 8.5 dch, 440 cal, 1410 mag - perfect for my tank. After 2 20% water changes all my LPS are looking amazing and have much better polyp expansion, zoas and individuals look like they are loving the change. Highly recommended.
