ONLY works with USB 2.0. DO NOT get it if the computer you want to switch between doesn't have a working old-school USB 2.0 port. I was very confused when we first got this because I could NOT get it to work properly. Whatever I did, it didn't work properly. I've tried connecting an external power supply, switching between USB ports, etc., nothing worked until I found out that both computers needed to be plugged into USB 2.0 ports, after finding out everything worked great. My wife used this for 2.5. every day for years when switching between a windows work machine and a linux bioinformatics machine on KVM and it works fine with no issues.
