To save keyboards which get gunk in between the little margins between the key and the board, I have gotten these silicon keyboard covers with nearly every computer I have gotten for several years running. This time around I got the basic clear model. This keyboard saver will at least keep crumbs and moisture out of the keyboard, but I suspect that it will not stop a full cup of coffee, and I am betting your keyboard will be toast if a cat sits on it, so the protection it gives is limited, but it is the more ubiquitous things, the cookie eating, the plant repotting while watching cat videos that this will help protect your keyboard from.
