Review on Highking Tool Timing Camshaft Volkswagen by Justin Rasmussen

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Either I'm disabled or it doesn't fit bew engines

Adjust timing for my alh and bew 1.9tdi engines. I already had a tool kit that I bought but it didn't have a camlock tool. I received this kit for a camshaft seal on my engine and when it arrived the camshaft locking tool was bent (was a return kit). I was like, hey, no big deal, I'll just hammer it back in. Well everything fell apart on the Bew motor I have in my MK1 and when it came to the crank locking tool it was wrong and I had to adjust the crank a tooth from TDC to lock. I pulled out the vacuum pump and used the camshaft locking tool and it was wrong for my bew, now maybe because the rocker arm was still there, but I couldn't lock the camshaft like some other locking tools. I had to grind the outer teeth of the tool to keep the cam in place. The only tool in this kit that worked properly was a tensioner and possibly a camshaft locking pin.

Pros
  • timing belt tool
Cons
  • no instructions
