Excellent for use in portraiture. A welcome addition to the 18-55 range (as mentioned earlier). For those who are truly in love. Completely deserves its price, and if you decide to take it, you will never be sorry you did so. The benefits of it include: I have a lens from the second generation. What I can say about the lens is that it is fairly light and fairly clear (of course, it can't compete with the L-series in terms of clarity, but nonetheless). Good bokeh - I really did not anticipate such a wonderful blur, I did not have any backlash, and it fits nicely in the palm of my hand. The stub is in terrific shape, and auto focus is nearly never inaccurate. Some cons: Small vacuum cleaner. The stub is undeniably good, despite the fact that it focuses very slowly. Despite the fact that the trunk loses its leaves, I do not see this to be an issue. Narrow aperture, but I rarely shoot without using the flash, so this does not bother me in the least.
