Review on 🔌 ARB 10900028 Threaded Socket/Surface Mount Outlet: An Ideal Electrical Solution by Bryan Cavalcante

I didn't need a full ARB outlet installation with a million feet of cord, all I needed was an outlet. I already have a battery box in the back of my jeep for charging things when camping. It has a 12-volt outlet, but the included cord is just as inadequate as the Jeep's rear outlet wiring. Let me clear that up. The ARB fridge runs fine from the rear outlet when the jeep is running, but when it's off the rear outlet drops to 11.6 volts. The trick is that you have to set the ARB to LOW to turn off the device. Otherwise the fridge will appear to be on (you can see the displayed temperature) but the compressor will not work as the voltage is below 11.8 or 11.4 for HIGH and MEDIUM. So if you drive 4 hours by jeep to get to the camp, the fridge is fine. You turn off the jeep and the voltage at the rear drops below the allowable level and the compressor shuts off. It would be a bad idea to set the radiator shutoff to LOW as you won't be able to start the car. So I have a battery box. I previously installed a switch panel with USB ports, a battery indicator and a 12 volt outlet. Also comes with a handy switch. I was using the fridge on a 12 volt outlet and while the batteries were at 12.7 before the compressor turned them on the voltage dropped to 11.7. The wire is really thin. I plugged the fridge into the ARB outlet and the fridge monitor app showed 12.7. Compressor turned on and lowered to 12.4. After a while it dropped to 12.2 and stayed there. I used a heavier gauge wire and as short a cable as possible with an ARB connector. A 15A fuse has been added to the line. Although the voltage dropped to 12.2 with the compressor running, I know from a previous fridge play that it runs for more than 48 hours before I need to charge two class 31 deep cycle batteries. I might change the leads. on a patch panel with the same gauge I used for the fridge but I wanted it to have its own path to the batteries. An added bonus is that the fridge plug screws into an ARB socket so there's no chance of losing it on the go. I don't trust standard 12 volt outlets to not vibrate.
