Review on Rupes 180 mm (7 inch) Blue Coarse Foam Pad: Professional Grade Sanding and Polishing Tool by Andy Thorson

Rupes rock to buff!

For many years I have been involved with vehicle preparation as a hobby. I've used Swing Buffer and Porter Cable DA, among others. Nothing has ever been as efficient as the Rupes system and nowhere near as fast and efficient. The image of the blue truck door has a blur in the center where paint has been applied to the putty. It was obvious when I got it back from the body shop. I didn't sand at all, I just applied Meguiar's 105 to a rough Rupes sponge, then went back to the green buffing pad and Meguiar's 205 polish and this completely eliminated the mix's visual imperfections as well as any swirls. it's like a polishing bulldozer. The trick is to work the panel one section at a time (about half the door) and then blow out the cushion with compressed air. Add five product points and continue to the next section. The black car was at best painted well in one operation. I just used his coarse rubber and M105 and got this result. It easily turned this car from 20 feet to 10 feet.

Pros
  • Very good price-performance ratio
Cons
