Description of Rupes 180 mm (7 inch) Blue Coarse Foam Pad: Professional Grade Sanding and Polishing Tool

Rupes 180 mm (7 inch) Blue Coarse Foam Pad. Quantity of ONE. The large dimension of the cells dissipate any heat build-up allowing compounds to work at optimum level. The abrasive compound used is not retained inside the foam but is continuously spread over the work surface as a lubricated abrasive resulting in a quick and amazing finish look. Recommended for correction of deep scratches and removal of oxidation on soft-medium coats and freshly applied paints.

Works perfectly! Body repair tool

I own a parts shop. Has worked flawlessly on 1 car so far, with no signs of wear. Make sure the primer is good as it is very hard out of the box.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Head overload, beware

too safe for a foam pad. Its cells are too large, which adds to the already extreme cushioning material (foam/plastic composite). 3000 grit is more effective than cleaning afterwards.

Pros
  • hands-free operation
Cons
  • exorbitant price

Rupes rock to buff!

For many years I have been involved with vehicle preparation as a hobby. I've used Swing Buffer and Porter Cable DA, among others. Nothing has ever been as efficient as the Rupes system and nowhere near as fast and efficient. The image of the blue truck door has a blur in the center where paint has been applied to the putty. It was obvious when I got it back from the body shop. I didn't sand at all, I just applied Meguiar's 105 to a rough Rupes sponge, then went back to the green buffing pad…

Pros
  • Very good price-performance ratio
Cons
  • Updates available

Hard, rough, HEAVY cutting mat.

I bought this as a base for microfiber hoods when I want to remove wax or sealer on my cars. Not bought for color correction. It works great for my purpose. 7" diameter fits 6" microfiber hats. It holds them in place to prevent the buffer pad from rotating in the hood. I've had this problem in the past when using 6" pads or softer finishing pads in 6" lids. I can buy a Rupes Green Pad which needs to be a little softer just to see if it works. It's quite firm so I'm concerned about how well it…
