Review on Daystar Universal Polyurethane Isolator KU71104BK by Jason Hayes

I am a big fan of Daystar products. I have used their alignment kits, body bushings, bushing insulators and more. So, to be clear, the quality of the parts is there. I have no doubt that the product would last if it actually worked. The real problem I'm having is that the hood pins are so short that I wouldn't be able to install the hood bushing and then insert the pins into the top. When the pin was bolted to the core support, the bottom nut had about 3 threads and the pin hole protruded just enough to insert a clamp. Add 3/8 inch or so thick insulators and you'll never get it. inches This kit would have received 5 stars if the pins were 1 inch longer. The other downside is that until you've drilled holes and installed the pins, it's quite difficult to figure out what length of pins you need. I knew this from other reviews and took a chance because I really like the design of the urethane isolators. Still I will not spend $30 for two of them and then another $10-20 for longer pins to work with isolators . The idea is great, the components are of good quality but be aware that they are too short to be really versatile. So installation recommendation for anyone who doubts about the length, first drill the size of the pin. That way you don't have a massive 1-3/8" hole in the hood if you need to use a different set of pins. It was on a Ford Ranger. The mainstay is about an inch lower than the top of the wings, I figured there would be enough pin there.
