Two stars because it turns on. Used for one minute with 29 gallons (30 x 12 x 18). It doesn't penetrate and the day setting has a very blue color temperature. I have a Marineland 11" for my size 20 and it shines beautifully! It seems Marineland decided to expand the 11" design to 24-36". It has the same number of blue actinic LEDs as the 11" "-Model! I think it will work with a 20 inch aquarium but why? The 11 inch is cheaper and has a better color. Very disappointed. Sent back and bought a same size Fluval Aquasky. It was $20 more and well worth it! Waterproof programmable RGBW with 1250 lumens versus 350 on this Marineland! I cannot put into words how disappointing the Marineland 24-36 inch light for $56 is.
