Perfect for Shoei RF1200

I put these devices in two Shoei RF1200. One belongs to me, the other to my wife. We've had the helmets for about three years now and both helmets were previously equipped with the Cardo Q9. Installation was very easy. Six latches to remove the pads. Two hex screws to remove Q9. A microphone without a boom on a Sena device. Two hex head screws (same hex wrench as Q9) to mount the Sena. Uses the same Velcro used to install Q9. A credit card was used to slide the wires through the folds of the helmet. Six snaps to put everything back in place.- Done The first helmet took me about 25 minutes, the second about 10. After everything was assembled I put the helmet on to check the result and was impressed. These speakers are a bit thicker than the Q9's, so they're a bit closer to my ears. However, it is quite convenient. This small change made the music much louder and boosted the bass. I actually had to go into the equalizer settings on my iPhone and turn the audio down for clarity. The proximity of the speakers also gave a HUGE volume boost. On my first day driving home from work, I only had about half the volume, hitting 95 mph in Silicon Valley traffic where I could. That's impressive considering how noisy the RF1200 can be with all the vents open and the visor cracked (it was the 105F). This thing has way more features than I'll ever need. I just want a volume, intercom/music button while driving. But for many of you, calls, radio, voice control, etc. will come in handy. It looks a bit strange on the side of the helmet. It hides the Shoei logo and is larger than the Q9. I think Sena was aiming for a futuristic and aerodynamic look. While it looks fine on some helmets, I don't think it does on the RF1200. But the sound quality more than makes up for it. Battery life has been good so far. I'm obsessed with loading all my stuff but my wife isn't. I will update this review if I receive any complaints from her. The reason we switched from the Q9 is because in just a few short years with them we ran into MANY bugs. For example, if my phone received a call while listening to music, Bluetooth would turn off. I get a lot of calls (at work) that I don't answer on my bike (Z900RS) so you can see why this annoys me. My wife kept putting the device in intercom mode without touching it. Cardo hasn't supported these devices since 2015 and I haven't been able to get any help from them. Tried resetting them to factory settings. It didn't help my wife's device and mine couldn't communicate with my laptop after a reboot, leaving me with an even older firmware with the same issues. It's not just about beating Cardo. I'm sure their new units are much better. And while the Q9s worked, they were great. Bottom Line: If you have an RF1200 and it's the right size for your dome, this device will be awesome. These are: - Easy to install. - Convenience. - Volume. Handling when driving - Styling could be better (let's see if I can post pics) - Good battery life - Am very impressed. Perhaps check out other reviews if you want to know more about the many features of this device.
