I bought it for the same reason most people do - peace of mind. I've never been locked in a vehicle or had to break in (baby in a hot car etc) but now I feel ready should the opportunity arise. I'm short and not particularly strong so I appreciate the presence of a spring loaded shock absorber as well as the fact that the tool isn't bulky or heavy. I'll probably keep mine in the glove box for easy access, but I hope I never need it.
