This bracket makes it very easy to mount the light bar on your steering wheel. If you don't feel comfortable making your own mount, just order it. Even if it doesn't fit right out of the box, it should be a lot easier to change than make it from scratch. I will say that I expected better materials from Rigid. My bracket arrived quite bent but it was very easy to bend it back into shape as the metal is very malleable. I expected it to be much harder! This approval is a compromise. This makes it very easy to install poles of different lengths as it is very easy to bend the bracket along the length. You can also slightly enlarge the mounting holes or drill new ones as the metal is very soft. I wish they would offer an anodized aluminum mount of the same thickness. Even if it costs more money I think it will be worth it as it will be stiffer and lighter. In the end I'm still happy with the mount as installing my lightbar was a 10 minute process but the quality is less than I expected.
