Review on πŸ”Œ MSI AX 200 WiFi 6 Bluetooth 5.0 PCIe Network Adapter Card with Long Range Wireless and MU-MIMO Support (Model: AX916C) by Melanie Phillips

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great upgrade! parts included, sorry no tl; DR.

Important: First of all, as another reviewer has pointed out, there is currently an issue with the supplied DISC being read correctly. I managed to get it to read once out of three attempts. It included things I personally found redundant, like a digital copy of the manual that's already included, and drivers (albeit outdated) for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionality. Updated drivers for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth function can be found on the Intel website under AX200. Then there are the drivers on the MSI website. You can find them under the model designation AX916C as indicated on the packaging. Both drivers serve the same purpose, Intel only has the newer of the two. Hardware: It's basically just a NGFF (next-gen form factor)/M.2 to PCIe adapter with an Intel AX200 Wifi module installed. For my individual use case, I personally first uninstalled all associated software associated with the Wi-Fi card I replaced, and then removed the device from Device Manager to ensure there was nothing left. After turning off the system, I opened the case and removed my old Wi-Fi card. Hardware Installation: The product is already assembled to work with Wi-Fi out of the box, the installation should be easy. First, if you haven't already, remove one of the existing screws holding the PCIe slot bracket next to the empty PCIe x1 slot in your case. Then carefully (note the holes at each end) connect one end of the included internal USB cable to the USB port on the device and the other end to the empty USB port on the motherboard. Now carefully insert the product into the PCIe x1 slot, making sure the notches on the slot and the product match. Then finally fix the screw on the bracket. After that, you should run the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth driver installer as soon as your computer boots up. FYI: If you choose not to install the Bluetooth driver, you will see an "Unknown device" entry in Device Manager. It's just a Bluetooth feature that Windows somehow can't identify without installing drivers. Simply installing the Bluetooth driver will change this entry in Device Manager to "Bluetooth".
