I've been growing a mustache for 23 months. Of that, I used mustache wax for 20 months. Most require a heat source to soften them in order to make them flexible. I used different waxes. I've used light hold wax, medium hold wax, heavy hold wax, and extra hold wax. This wax has a strong hold, room temperature wax does not heat up. What does that mean? They change consistency and smoothness depending on how hard you rub it between your fingers. This is your heat source. So when I use it for my standard shaping routine, I start by rubbing a lot and making it flimsy and flexible. After applying it to my mustache and shaping it, I let it dry for a few minutes. The wax will begin to return to the solid consistency it started with, which remains solid in the jar. Then I scrape a little more than usual (about 2 times the size of a pea) and rub lightly to a thicker consistency. This is what I rub into the ends and curls. So it takes less time to cure. I found a big key for me, a clean dry mustache. Not wet, without oils and balms.
