I brought this home and it worked pretty quickly. I had no problem transferring video from VCR to computer. So why a star? Well I have a feeling the box and its advertising are misleading. The DVC 80 can only record video in AVI format at 360 x 240, about half the size of a television screen. There is no mention of this anywhere in the minimum documentation that comes with the item. I thought I was doing something wrong and tried to contact support but the call took too long. Eventually I got an email from them and their only reply was that if I wanted MPEG-2 or 720x480 resolution I should have bought a DVC 150. It would be nice to know before I had the money.
