This review relates to the EHEIM1 Eyedro 2-terminal monitor (without built-in WLAN). I bought and installed it at the end of January 2017. Installation was easy. I used a Wi-Fi range extender/repeater (DEBBIECTY MSRM US300 300Mbps Wireless-N Wi-Fi Range Extender, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Repeater with full 360 coverage) to connect Eyedro over my Wi -Fi router to connect your home to the internet. It's cheaper than buying a wireless Eyedro. My goal is to monitor individual devices that turn on automatically (like my air compressor, stove, and hot tub) and evaluate how often they turn on, how long they stay on, and what their total monthly usage is. Consumption, seasonal fluctuations etc. Some people seem to be using the Eyedro as a whole house monitor, which I don't think makes much sense: the electricity meter makes this much more accurate. Unless your goal is to see power consumption spikes or other similar events. I'm having trouble with Eyedro falsely detecting a current of 400mA (displayed as a continuous power draw from 32W to 80W depending on the voltage setting) even when the clamps were not connected to the cable at all. After extensive experimentation, I contacted Eyedro support. A few days later, the latest firmware (Ver.2.8.1) was applied, which completely fixed the problem. Bravo to the technical team! I should note that the guide posted on the Eyedro website is a bit outdated. The latest software differs slightly from the description in the manual and videos. I couldn't find any suggestions on how to properly monitor three phase circuits or calculate power factor for inductive loads such as cooktop motors, ovens, air compressors, dryers, etc. The Eyedro monitor is a simple clamp-on ammeter, so to speak. Calculate the power must be provided by the voltage value. More sophisticated monitors actually measure voltage and phase to provide more realistic results. Eyedro isn't one of them, but I think that's enough for our purposes. The software is not very user-friendly and seems a bit redundant. One of the conveniences is that there is a mobile version for your smartphone.
