I love the beach wave effect the flat iron creates. I wouldn't call it curls. It takes a little practice for the iron to stay nice and get really hot. I have thin and very straight hair and the first time the wave didn't last long, the second time it was much better. I think it holds up better on dead, clean hair. Do not give up! Try it a few times to get comfortable because it will give you a natural wave. The degrees are in Celsius, which struck me as odd, but I just googled the conversion and it goes up to 210 Celsius or 410 Fahrenheit. In general, I like this iron, which is different from my curling iron or flat iron
