This pump was packaged very well. Styrofoam border and double box. Also included was a roll of waterproof tape and a roll of teflon tape and 3 marine grade butt joints (they were useless and terrible quality) but they were free. Buy your own 3m connections. Installation was pretty easy. I had to disconnect the motor from the pump to replace the pathetic ground wire. This should happen first. I've never seen a company use such a tiny ground wire. This causes this pump to burn out within a week. This process is easy. Unclip the wire holder from the side with two small rods (2 screws), remove this rod and the screen surrounding the pump inlet. You will see two screws holding the waterproof wire attachment. Remove the 4 screws holding the motor and pump together. You will need a 13mm wrench. Carefully separate the two pieces and set the other piece aside. Now unscrew the wire holder holding that ridiculous ground wire. Connect at least 14 gauge wire (preferably green) to the ring terminal and crimp. I also used a small piece of shrink wrap over it. Attach the pump to the motor with 4 bolts and tighten. Now carefully reinsert the wire entry grille, being careful not to pinch the wires. Then reattach the wire holder with the two clamps. Then it's time to test, because who wants to go through the whole pump installation only to find out you have a broken one? The easiest way I've done this is to put it in a 5 gallon bucket, temporarily twist the wires and flip the switch to see if it turns on. Mine was refueled automatically and the water started splashing. Ideal. I unplugged it, unscrewed the wire nuts and dumped this bad boy in my aerator tank to replace a 1hp Goulds pump that was 8 years old and died. Now only the power cables and lines had to be connected. This worked without any problems. There is a dry plastic cap at the top of the pump outlet to keep the test water inside during transport. take it off Then you should buy a 1 1/4 male PVC to female slide nozzle adapter. Make sure you have enough teflon tape on the threads the first time, because after gluing you can't add more teflon without cutting the whole thing and starting over. elbows, connectors, etc. Once you get what you want, draw alignment marks on the plumbing to help with assembly if you are in a hurry after gluing it. It's a breeze to line up the marks and you're done. Allow the adhesive to dry for a few hours before pressure testing the system. To power this pump I had a three wire pump (2 pins and ground). My last pump was the same so it was just a matter of hot to hot and ground to ground matching. I connected the wires together, wrapped them in tape and filled the other side of the wrapped wires with silicone to keep water out. I hope these instructions make the installation easier for people without mechanical knowledge. I will update if anything happens or the pump dies. Also make sure to keep the sticker with your serial number. No sticker, no serial number, no factory repair.
