Review on Bolt Thread Checker Wall Mounted by Delbert Potter

This is a good niche tool. I'm cleaning out my workshop trying to repair and sort through all the bolts, nuts and screws I can find. This will help me to sort them quickly. Some people downgrade the theme checker because it gets garbled when it arrives. Honestly, that's some nonsensical sophistication. Yes, it can bend, but once it's bolted to the wall (mine is attached to a support post at my shop), the bending doesn't matter. As far as I can tell, it's not wood. The back plate where the threads attach is 11.8mm thick. It looks like some kind of thermoplastic, maybe HDPE or polystyrene. With my soldering iron it softens at 350°F although I couldn't go any deeper so I couldn't find the exact glass transition point. It becomes quite molten at about 450°F, then begins to yellow and char above 500°F. Cutting a piece and hitting it with a blowtorch (which I did before testing it with a soldering iron) caused it to simply shrink and catch fire, although I couldn't get it to start its own flame or drip to maintain, so I thought it was originally a thermoset plastic. The text on the label appears to be printed on the back, so the side facing the user protects it. I applied a few drops of B12 Chemtool (mostly acetone with some toluene and 2-butoxyethanol) and wiped it off after 30 seconds and the plastic label wasn't even tacky and the text was intact. The label is about 8 mils (0.008 inches) thick so it can take some bumps and scratches, but I don't think it needs tools. So just don't throw your tools and fasteners in there. Inserts seem solid. I haven't found a setback in any of them. They screw and snap in to the full thickness of the back panel (1/2 inch). I just got stuck in an M5 screw and when I removed it with a screwdriver the bit came loose. I grabbed her. with a channel lock and took the bolt out and then screwed it back in. It looks like they smeared a little Loctite but this one didn't have much so I smeared more. lasts a long time, especially when installed on the side.
