Yearning for Powdered Silicon

The same year that we traded a pop culture icon-turned-president for a former vice-president, the US experienced one of the worst stock market crashes in history, the Shanghai virus being the main cause News story and Michael Keaton made his debut as Batman. The decade of Blade Runner defined the era of techno-utilitarianism. Automated emissions controls have smoothed the boundaries of environmental pollution, while automotive designs have flattened curving bodies into unsightly boxes, reminiscent of our modern day silicon squares with bits now cluttering desks in maze-like cubicles. In Brutality, the underlying digital element that shackles us to power and networks also dominates the composition of the sun-kissed shore we plan to visit during our evening Sweatin' to Oldies session. We search for a reminder, a clue that our lives are meant to be lived behind a wall of interconnected cross-table functions; an accurate, consistent reminder that while silicon rules our lives, we desire a life lived around sprayed silicon dioxide. Today that memory is still available in the form of an efficient sporty style that could only be brought through this decade. Silicon marvel from 1989 with quartz drive and powerful breath of energy. The digital watch that outperformed all others in history. A watch where the only smart thing is its looks.
