Maybe it's just me. But
This spout was part of a retrofit for a Delta 600 Series bath/shower. No instructions were provided so my first attempt at installation was to simply slide the spout over the copper tubing and tighten with an Allen key. I was never able to get a tight fit after several attempts. Then I got the idea to just remove (unscrew) this inner part (I don't know what it's called) and put it on the pipe and secure it with a hex screw. Then I just unscrewed the spout and got the perfect fit. I'm not a plumber, remember. I am satisfied with the appearance and quality.
