Review on Tel Tru 34100214 Resettable Thermometer Connection by Sean Zamora

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Stunning, high quality, made in the USA and perfect for brewing

This is super high quality, made in the USA, huge 3 inch dial (Celsius and Fahrenheit), stainless steel and very sensitive (the pointer moves very smoothly at the slightest change in temperature). I would give six stars if I could. B. They have adjustable surfaces in case you need to recalibrate them; Haven't tested it yet but it seemed pretty dead right out of the box. I use this in a 1/2" NPT copper fitting for brewing as well as measuring steam heating temp. To my knowledge there is only one type of connector for brewing (1/2" stainless steel thread is all I have). For vapor temp I use it at the end of a tee and this rod is the perfect length. in the vapor path (only when using a 1/2" copper street fitting [which fits onto the end of the T-bar coupling and does not require a pipe spacer] with a 1/2" NPT thread). If necessary, put a pipe gasket between the tee and the 1/2" NPT fitting as you will need a longer stem for this thermometer they sell. The next shorter stem length is 4" and is model 34100414 Tel-Tru 34100414 model Gt300R Technology Grade Resettable Bimetal Thermometer, Stainless Steel, 3" Face, 1/2" NPT Rear Port, .250" Diameter x 4" Shaft Length 304 Stainless Steel, 0/250 degrees Fahrenheit and -20/120 degrees Celsius , +/- 1% full scale accuracy One of the biggest challenges when choosing Tel-Tru is getting the right size for your needs as they make a wide range of stem lengths, temperature scales and different features, this is most likely the one , which you need if you use steam heating in your brewery to brew beer (less roasting!), and probably the one you need for steam distillation (since that's a other important thing seems to be these same types of thermometers are sold). Their catalog http://www.teltru.com/images/catalogs/BT1100/BT1100.pdf has all the details about the different models, page 6 will help you find what you are looking for.
