Save time, money and hassle by spending a few dollars more on a better product. This pen has a plastic thumb button and a plastic pin that opens the internal latch. This was absolutely annoying as it kept getting stuck in the handle structure literally holding it in place. We couldn't open the door from the outside and went to the back door many times to go back and unlock the handle. I replaced this one with another all metal pen as soon as possible, spent $4 more than this one and am much happier with it. It is true that you get what you pay for, so buying this item "cheap" was a waste of money. Lesson learned.
