Review on Monoprice 115888 Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable - 4K Capable, 1.5 Feet, 3D Video Support by Laura Lucero

Revainrating 5 out of 5

FINALLY flicker-free 4K at 60Hz on Surface Pro 4 (and Surface Dock)

This is the third cable I've bought to use with the Surface Pro 4 to get 4K at 60Hz from the Dock Surface to the Yamakasi M280PU to get monitor. I first used the cable that came with the monitor and this mini DP-DP adapter (Cable Matters Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt™ 2 Compatible) - Black DisplayPort Male to Female Adapter - 4K Ready), which didn't worked, then I tried cable (Mini DP to DP Cable, Rankie 6FT Gold Plated Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 4K (Black) - R1105 cable) - which in other words worked with the Surface Pro 4 but not 1.2 claimed, so it must have been out of spec because it didn't work. Both options send video from the SP4's mini-DP port to the monitor's DP port, but there was incredibly annoying flickering as well as image degradation every 7 seconds or so. I ended up buying this cable because it specifically states that it is DP 1.2 rated at 21.6 Gbps, which is almost double the other cable advertised. I figured if they advertised this kind of speed it would have to be a true DP 1.2 cable. In fact, this cable worked flawlessly from the mini DP SP4 to the DP M280PU, flicker free at 4K 60Hz - just perfect. It was an incredible effort plugging and unplugging random things to send a video signal from the surface. Doc, but I ended up getting it working. I don't know if it still works, but at this point the Surface Dock will be to blame, not this cable. In short, instead of wasting your time on other products that might work but are definitely not guaranteed to be trouble-free, spend your money on this genuine cable.
