A friend suggested a USB fan after my husband and I had a pretty uncomfortable night in the back of our van. While we haven't had a chance to try it out for this purpose, I've used the fan in hotel rooms for a few nights (much quieter than those rattling wall units!) and tested the battery life at home. Two full nights of running at fairly high settings didn't drain the battery. This fan can be used without batteries by connecting the USB cable to any USB port, e.g. or an external battery. Used in this way, it is very light and compact for traveling. If it is connected to the mains with batteries inserted, the batteries will be charged. You can also charge another device with the fan batteries via the optional USB port on the fan. The versatility of this little fan is very impressive! I expect the clip to be very handy when camping. The base of the clamp sits flat and stable on a flat surface. The fan head can be rotated in different directions. I'm considering buying another one to give away!
