Review on ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Advanced Extech Digital Thermometer: Accurate Temperature Readings with Ease by Daniel Evans

Inaccurate, humidity reading cannot be adjusted

My Extech hygrometer 445815 is not accurate. I ran this meter through a standard salt moisture test prior to use. I tested it along with several other hygrometers I had on hand. The salt test produces a stable known humidity in an airtight container. An accurate hygrometer should read 75% relative humidity. My Extech 445815 only got 68%. This surprised me, so I repeated the test and tried to find bugs in my testing methodology. Every time 445815 read 68%. So my device shows 7% less. A low value should not be a problem as the 445815 has a multi-turn potentiometer that allows the user to adjust the relative humidity control. 445815 even has clear instructions on how to do this, but the procedure turned out to be impossible. The adjustment potentiometer is already set to the upper stop. Further rotation of the trimmer did not affect the relative humidity reading. As another reviewer wrote, there is a faint click when the right trim pot reaches its upper limit. The trim pot worked the other way (I was able to lower the RH value), but that didn't help. Still, I love Extech products. At the moment there is a wonderful Extech multimeter next to me on the bench. Aside from this hygrometer, Extech instruments have always proven to be high quality and affordable. Other reviewers report good results with this meter. I must have gotten the tune. You must test your meter before use.
