Review on Mighty Mule Wireless Driveway FM231 by Luca Washington

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great quality, works great, added 15ft USB cable. UPDATED 3 MONTHS AND 13 MONTHS LATER

UPDATED 13 MONTHS: Lithium batteries are being replaced today, 13 months after their installation. The alarm and low battery indicator didn't work, but we suspected it didn't always work when new batteries were needed. So far, so good. However, highly recommended! We are thrilled so far, great for the price. I ended up ordering a 15-foot male-to-female USB cable from Revain, which was blessed by manufacturer Mule, who says you shouldn't add more than 25 feet. We placed the sensor about two feet from the gravel road junction where one road leads to our rented cottage and the other to our house. We dug a 25 foot trench about 6 inches deep and routed the USB cable through 1 inch gray PVC electrical conduit. I used duct tape to secure the USB connections. We then buried the sensor at an angle in a sealed plastic bag, then buried the PVC sheathed cable and then made a curved piece of PVC at the end where we placed the pipe that came with the device. We tied this pipe and block to a small post under a tree. Now it shows nothing but this short post. Cars have come and gone today, down our driveway and to our cottage, and the monitor that sits by the window of our bedroom TV cabinet beeps every time. The only time I was fooled into thinking our Airbnb guests had arrived was when my husband was sitting on his lawnmower! Next time he's mowing, I'll turn the volume down. The distance from the sensor to the monitor is about 150 feet. The distance from the sensor to the driveway is about 2 feet. Everything is planted in PVC to a depth of 6 inches, all joints securely sealed. Easy access to change batteries and I've ordered some AA lithium batteries from Revain, expected in two days. UPDATE: works great. !Love it, highly recommend!Follow our recommendations!Normal AA batteries last 3 months. The alarm went LOUD in the middle of the night to warn us of a low battery.I turned it off and it kept beeping !We have the built-in lithium batteries and hope this doesn't happen again for a long time. Still working well after 3 months and lots of rain!
