You will need it!

WHY does an engineer have to develop devices with so much trouble and trouble as these flimsy door latches? The good news is that they can be replaced! On my Coachmen bus, her body is slightly thicker than the original latches. To install I have to slightly enlarge the existing hole they are attached in. It's a bit of work, but it complicates the simple task of removing/replacing. On my landing doors, I have better access to the top latches than the bottom ones. So if the bottom latch is broken, I replace the broken bottom latch with the top latch and then expand the top hole to accommodate one of these new latches. I suspect that eventually I'll run out of undamaged original fasteners and have to start enlarging the bottom holes. The first two I bought were from a different brand, each and MUCH more expensive. They were the same size as these and I also had to enlarge the mounting holes for them. So far, none of the replacement latches have failed. But the originals have lasted for years, so the replacement won't fail in a few years.
