These mugs are great for cooling but crack every year or so. My guess is that the gel material is slowly migrating down and as it freezes puts too much pressure on the plastic and tears it. Happened to four of my cups and I never put them in the dishwasher. They will last longer if left upside down after thawing and then refrozen. This larger size also doesn't cool down as quickly as the smaller one due to the surface area to liquid ratio. I prefer the smaller size (16 ounces in my opinion).
