Cool project.: Puzzle

Bought for dad as a Christmas present. He's a landscaper in Michigan, which means he has LOTS of free time in the winter (unless he's shoveling snow). He likes to be creative, build something with his own hands, in his free time he does handicrafts in his workshop. It's right up his alley. It took him almost all day to assemble it, which is good for him. He enjoyed it. The finished product is as beautiful as it is interesting. Dad now plans to take the clock apart and paint or stain the different parts to add some of his creativity to it. I have to admit I can't wait to see what happens! Not very well - the clock and timer work like two completely different devices. This means that the pendulum will not swing until the timer is set and started. Also, the timer bell isn't ringing at the moment, something is connecting or otherwise preventing the bell from working. Dad plans to examine it and fix it if he takes it apart to paint or stain it. He is confident that he can find and fix the problem.
