They PREVENT ulcers but do not heal them. You need to clean the wound (batydin scrub and nitrofurazone daily, put a 4X sterile compress on the wound and then put these poultices on top). In about a week you will have beautiful pink skin. Once the wound has healed, stop taking the medication, but DO NOT STOP the bandage. If used as directed, the wrap will remain. We have Arabs (very busy) and our associations remain. You have to change them every day and make sure they are dry/clean etc. You have to be the right size and put them on correctly. Our Arabians wear small to medium and they are perfect. They loosen up a bit when worn, so I attach velcro (along the lines) to hold the wrap in place. Even the instructions say to put 2 fingers between the bandage and the horse but if they are not tight enough they will slip down. We are very happy with these capes.
