The originals have "NGK" on one side and "BMW" on the other, while the new ones don't have the letters "bmw" just the part number. and NGK. Also, I plan to buy them again when I get another 100,000. Extras: It's the same OEM gear but at a fraction of the dealer cost and if they last as long as the originals I won't need another set for another 184,000 miles (yes the originals seem to have lasted 12 years). As for the records, one more note: the image shown shows one probe over the electrode, when in fact there are 4. So don't look at the picture you see, go by the part number. My car had a problem with cylinder 5 so I swapped out the coil and spark plug 5 for another cylinder that worked and the problem moved to the new replaced cylinder so I bought them (and coils). the car drives smooth as silk again.
