The rib on the bottom wears out pretty quickly. The thing has also loosened up a bit to be able to fall off the chair leg. However, this is easily corrected by placing the elastic on the leg before reattaching the lace. If you have a chair leg or something exactly 1.5 inches, I recommend buying something smaller, maybe 1.25 inches, so it will stay in place.
