I'm not a house painter, I'm a contractor who is forced to paint things against my will from time to time, always with poor results. I recently had to paint my toilet system and bought this sprayer for the job. How important is a professional tool! It took me a few days to get the technique down, but when I was done I had a nice, smooth finish with no brush marks, streaks, streaks, or light spots. Pros: 1) Variable speed - this is important because I found that for the color I used for the case, setting #7 gave the best results. For the primer I used setting #8. In a separate job with a different color, I found #4 worked best. These results would not be possible with a one speed or two speed model. 2) A large paint tank came in handy when painting large panels. 3) Size - The whole atomizer is quite small and fits into the storage bag provided. The bag fits completely on a shelf in the garage. 4) No hoses to clean, twist and store. Disadvantages: 1) The air release valve is very sensitive - if the air valve lets air into the paint can, the sprayer will not work. I've spent a lot of time figuring out this problem and found that the air release valve needs to be cleaned very carefully and thoroughly after each use. But even with the greatest care, the plastic vent valve must be replaced frequently. (I've also found that a small square of kitchen wrap placed between the outlet valve and its cap can greatly increase the life of the valve.) For such a high-quality tool, I'm surprised that a silly little plastic cap can completely replace it . 2) Unfortunately, weight is the price you pay to eliminate the clutter and headache of storing tubing and a regular syringe. A full tank of sprayer is quite heavy and will cause hand fatigue after a period of spraying. This is a minor consideration, but it means that using this atomizer for a long period of time will mean your forearms and wrists will be very sore tomorrow.
