Good board. Good for prototyping and labs. I didn't want to mess around with LUA or Micropython - I just used the Arduino IDE, which I assume is C++. Also, I had to try a few micro-USB cables before I could solve what seemed to be a common problem. However, I would definitely not recommend it for continuous battery-powered use where deep sleep is at stake. In deep sleep, it consumes 9.5mA of current. This will drain a 14650 battery in less than a week. I know there are ways to reduce it by disabling the chips and UARTs, but I found it too complicated. Just use Wemos or another smaller board. The esp01 version is ideal for this, but I couldn't properly solder that extra small GPIO16 microprocessor pin, so I opted for the larger 8266 model.
