18" is a good length for this item, enough space between connectors to power 4 vertically mounted drives. My only concern is that the connectors are wired upside down. from what you expect. Typically, you should use a cable from a power supply mounted underneath the drives. The cable requires you to connect your drives from the top and move them down. The only alternative is to rotate each connector 180 degrees, but then there might not be a wire left slack enough to access all the disks.
