I have an Audi A4 (model B7) with a 2.0 ton engine and I now have two of these K&N PS-7010- filters used. I was initially attracted by the extremely low price, and that from a well-known manufacturer. Unfortunately I will not buy them again as they perform poorly compared to OEM. Both of the K&Ns I've used were clocked at 5000 miles with VW 502.00 specs and in both cases they collapsed on their own into corset or hourglass shapes. This phenomenon did not occur during the first 5000 miles of car ownership when a dealer installed an OEM filter. And because those filters got as tight as they got over 5,000 miles, I never dreamed of extending the change interval to 10,000 miles, as Audi points out. I will also say that I don't drive my car hard and it is completely stock. I can only imagine what can happen with this filter in a modified car or after being rotated regularly. I wish I had written down the part number on this filter because when it was removed it was in much better condition (not exactly the shape of a new filter, but not as narrow as a K&N). Reading on the internet it seems that the Audi/VW filter is made by Mann and luckily Revain has a Mann-Filter HU 719/6 X metal free oil filter that fits my car. They're usually only $1 more expensive, and just holding them in your hand feels better than K&Ns. I have ordered two of these and will run them 5000 miles with the correct 502.00 spec VW oil. I will post a review of their performance in the future. As for the K&N, I would like to say that it looks like an excellent design compared to the branded filters a la Microguard. It also comes with a matching rubber gasket which is required for my Audi's oil filter housing. There is also an additional gasket of a different design but I have no idea what car it might be for. In general, K&N is not suitable for my car. It might work fine in a non-turbo car or with a different displacement or number of cylinders, but in my case I would be concerned that this filter would restrict oil flow or maybe create a bypass situation where the dirty oil is allowed. circulate.
