While I'm not judging the durability or sturdiness of this item, it has so far worked well and consistently with my NiMH battery cartridges. While the sound could be better (which almost always applies to anything but high-end hardware), it's okay, especially considering it's under $10. Does that sound like an $80 portable player or a $150 tape deck? No of course not. The radio part is what you would expect and the batteries last longer on the radio at low volume than on cassette or at high volume as you would expect. I gave it three stars for the sound because that's about what you should expect from it, and the included headphones and earbuds are about what you'd expect from something that comes in a $9 item. Pretty much rubbish. The left earbud was quieter, there was a buzzing noise, and they were uncomfortable. There was no hum in the headphones, but not much bass and they didn't pair well. They also don't have much bass when plugged into an aux input and played through something else, although they make bass controls on most other gear for that. Maybe this sound rating should be 5 stars considering what it is and how much it costs. It's not what anyone would call "five star sound" by comparison. I will update this if it breaks or behaves weird.
