If you've tried using PIR modules (like a bug's eye) with ESP-based microcontrollers, you'll find that you get a lot of false positive readings. This is because the shield does not prevent the Wi-Fi signal from triggering the PIR. These modules fix it. The only warning I have for you is this: you are sensitive. When I plugged it in for the first time, it continued to work. I held it in my hand. When I put it on the table everything was fine. If you're looking for sensitive thermal sensors, grab a pack of these.
