I don't think it will need a DVD in the future but I still copy my images to it. The only reason I buy this is because of the slight rib, I've never had a single bad disc. If you want to darken the light image, just restart the image burning, it will do it again and again in the same places, it really doesn't matter even if you took your DVD out and put it back in - it will burn that Image on the front better in the same place.
