If you look closely at the photos the skewers appear to be made of a much heavier metal. A quick look at the reviews (which I didn't do before buying because I foolishly relied on a 4.5 GPA) will tell you a few things: They're skinny, they're sharp. These skewers are EXTREMELY sharp. So much so that I stabbed myself pretty badly within 10 seconds of removing the red safety tip from the shrink-wrapped packet of skewers. I will still try to use them but I took them to my bench grinder and cleaned the tips. Like other reviewers, the ones I received (14 inch skewers in a pack of 16) were basically the size of a probe. With any weight on the skewers, they will definitely bend. Not critical, but not that important either, since you just have to hold them so that the metal is vertical. It's disappointing to see companies misrepresent their products here on Revain. It seems that after all the positive reviews, the product has been changed.
