Review on Akasa Plato Fanless Generation NUC23 M1B: The Ultimate Silent Cooling Solution for NUC23 M1B by Ryan Springer

Quality case for NUC 5i7, does its job well

Great case for Intel 5i7 NUC. The parts are of good quality and assembly went smoothly. I found the fit and finish to be excellent. The instructions are descriptive so you'll need a bit of interpretation, and they assume you've already removed the board from the factory NUC case. So I went to YouTube and read how to disassemble it. never mind Also, I had to buy ultra-thin RF cables for wireless and Bluetooth - around $6 for home delivery, and they're a little tricky to plug into the card (it's under the m.2 SSD). Search for "2pcs IPEX U.fl/IPEX for RP-SMA" and you will see it. But the case cools excellently. My device goes from 30-30 idle, up to 45-50 under moderate load, and 60-70 when playing high resolution games - well below the 105 max. I use CoreTemp to track how hot it gets. The best part is that the device is completely silent. Overall the case is a bit pricey, yes, but it looks fantastic on my desk. I like that there is no logo or branding on the case. Shipping from Akasa in Taiwan took about 4 business days.

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • Don't really like it, everything is ok
