Review on Fat Daddio'S Anodized Aluminum Springform Pan - 6 X 3 Inch, Silver by Emily Morris

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A pretty good springform

Please note that although the product description reads 6" x 3", the base of this pan is 8". The size won't work for me - I bought it to use in a slow cooker and my large oval model is too narrow. I borrowed an ancient crock pot to test a cheesecake recipe where it was cooked raised above the simmering water. The springform pan seemed very sturdy and well made. The base has a raised/crowned center, about 3/8" high, which fits inside the spring ring. The recipe called for a circle of parchment. I cut around the outer rim, so when assembling, I pushed the ring down over the slightly oversized paper. The parchment stayed folded down over the raised center and was crimped into place by the spring mechanism. Using parchment on this pan will allow you to slide your baked item off the pan (carefully!) and onto a plate or cutting surface. There was no leakage. Before I returned the borrowed slow cooker, I made a second one. The pan no longer easily expanded when unclipped. It's as if the rolled metal rims are grabbing within. It was a very tight snap to reassemble. I kept wondering if it was going to leak because it didn't seem to be going together properly. It was fine, though, but it's an annoyance. I do like the anodized aluminum and recommend it for a rust free pan.

Pros
  • Perfectly circular shape
Cons
  • May require preheating before use
